CLass Descriptions
Creative Performance - A proper performing arts education is more than simply memorizing lines or dance moves. Our Creative Performance class is Theatre as a Collaborative Art 101. Students will work on Improvisation, Acting Technique, Character + World Building, the Fundamentals of Storytelling, Scene Work, Movement, the Power of Words, and Stagecraft (introduction to costuming, lighting, sound, and set design). While every class will cover these techniques and skills, they are adapted to be developmentally appropriate for each age group. There is a Winter Showcase and a Spring Production. Learn Rates, Discounts, and how you can get your entire session FREE in the RATES section below.
Creative Writing - (short story, poetry, screenwriting, playwrighting) There is no television, cinema, or theatre without the writer. Students are introduced to various mediums such as the screenplay, stageplay, short story and poetry. They will learn the history of storytelling, story structure, how to create fully dimensional characters and build believable worlds for their characters to live within. Students that complete all four sessions will create their own short work that they will help cast and will be performed by Creative Performance students at the end of the Season. Learn Rates, Discounts, and how you can get your entire session FREE in the RATES section below.
Acting for Film + TV Workshop- And now for something completely different. With the camera replacing the live audience, acting for the screen is an art form that uniquely diverges from stage performance. Students will study some of the best screenplays, teleplays, and screenwriters in cinema history, hone their auditioning skills (both live and re-tape), and learn memorization techniques, script analysis, scenework, character analysis, and the fundamentals of other jobs on set.
Learn Rates, Discounts, and how you can get your entire session FREE in the RATES section below.
Set + Prop Design - From sketch to stage, students will learn how to design props, puppets and a set for our theatrical productions. They will study world-building through the use of perspective, scale, color and texture and use a variety of tools and mediums such as paper mache, paint, cardboard, felt, foam, fabric, wire and so much more.
